Spring is so lovely in Maryland. My daffodils and tulips bulbs are in full gorgeous display. The cherry trees blossoms give us our pink snowfall. In no time at all, the hummingbirds will be zipping around.
I'll be teaching at the Writer's Center again in June, including Write off the map , Polishing for publication and a new workshop, Create a Story in an Hour.
JHU's Osher lifelong learning program has also invited me to teach. "The Wizardry of Fiction: the author behind the curtain" will examine the techniques authors use to create fiction. It should be fun--Osher students are terrific.
I am nearing the end of a huge revision of my novel and working with a fantastic mentor. It's been intense but one of the best learning experiences I've ever had.
Check out A Chapter Away in France, one of the best writer's events I've ever attended. It's where I met the mentor.
I had my first flash fiction accepted at Flash Fiction Magazine Look for "A Quarter for the Taj Mahal" on September 13, 2017
My twenty first story acceptance came from Oakwood, the literary magazine of SDSU, which is in my hometown. I feel like a prodigal son or a prophet who is not scorned in her homeland. It's a wonderful bit of family history twisted into fiction, "Shading a Line Gone Wrong."

Mkuki Na Nyota has been wonderful to work with on my novel and on the Bethsaida Orphan girls' fund raiser anthology, Their Voices; Their Stories. To have an African publishing house with a Zimbabwean editor bring out my African novel feels just right.
